Principal's message to new parents

Kia Ora and Greetings,

Churton School extends a very warm welcome to you and your family.

We are pleased to have you as part of our school community and hope that your association with the school will be a long and happy one.

Please feel free to ring the office to arrange an interview with either myself or any of the staff to discuss the progress of your child at school.

If you require any other information or details please contact Christine Spooner at the school office.

We believe that personal contact between the parents/caregivers and the teachers benefit both the child at school, enhances the opportunities for quality education.

The Churton School PTA are very active in their support of the school and welcome parents to participate with their activities.

At Churton we try to foster a caring attitude and sensitivity towards others - whether they be staff or student. We hope that you will also continue to encourage these beliefs.

I hope you enjoy your time with us.

School Visits

You may like to come and visit our school before you are due to start. We have pre-entry visits on a Wednesday:

1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

9:00 AM - 12:30 PM (including playtime)

If these times do not work for you, we can make other arrangements.

We suggest you bring your child for two morning and two afternoon sessions before they start school. Please, phone the school office prior to these visits so that we know to expect you.

Note to Mum and Dad

In an effort to make school visits and the first day of school as stress-free as possible, it may help if you leave your child soon after you arrive as children often involve themselves in the class activities more readily after caregivers have left. This will help the transition to school.
